Amazing New Features in CS6! CS6 beta version is now available for FREE for a limited time! This week is all about the new features, tools, and options. Today see some of the improvements in layout and interface, as well as how to work with the new option of  adding layer effects to groups. There are also more options with blend-if and we’ll go over that by adding type to an image.

aaron, don’t forget you’re running CS6 beta — beta versions are often slow.  the final release will probably be just fine.

Hey Aaron! It’s true that CS6 is much more slow than CS5? It compensates to download it, or buy it when Adobe releases final version?

    Good point Helen!

Right off the top of my head: Liquify renders much quicker, Can duplicate group with shortcut instead of needing to right click, brush size goes much higher (useful when we make brushes for grass, clouds etc)….Biggest of all is I think RAW engine that comes with bridge.

I have found that CS6 is way faster than CS5. At least for me it is. Running an i5 with 8 GB of RAM.

Some other new features are you can create a clipping mask to a group and you can set the blending mode and opacity to multiple layers at once.

Layerstyles on groups is nice, but I really really want the ability to use a clipping mask on a group.

First time I heard about autosave feature! It’s now officially my new favorite feature in CS6.

is it just my imagination or does the image quality seem to decline when you resize an image (smaller) in the cs6 beta version??? Yes, no?? Has anyone experienced this?

I found a work-around for this… if you’re adding an adjustment layer or something, just put it as the topmost layer within the group, then change the group’s blend mode from ‘pass through’ to ‘normal’.
