    Haha, I think you may have opened yourself to a lot of people asking for things! Thanks for another cool episode. I know you are right because it’s worked for me many many times. My aunt gave me this great advice when I was a little girl and it stuck with me.. “Ask for what you want nicely, until someone gives it to you and never take a NO from someone who doesn’t have the power to give you a yes.”

    Now, I just need to figure out exactly what I want. Any advice on how to do that? :)

    Whoa Aaron… I do The Same thing!  I always ask for a discount too.. soooo funny… I often get mocked by friends that are with me… that is until they do give me a discount and bam I made a believer out of them… now they are asking too… ha so funny I thought I was spreading the movement, apparently there are others like us out there!  woohoo

    True story: Just the other day I had to get the screen on my iphone fixed the funky plaid wearin nerd said “its 125$”- I said, “well isn’t there some sort of sympathy discount?” (my screen was so busted) he sheepishly said, “ummm well ahhh, I’ve heard my boss go down as low as 115 before” and bam ten bucks off!

    My day job is a teacher and I everywhere I go I ask for a teacher discount almost everyone will give me at least 10% off it’s awesome. And great episode I always think to myself just ask models to model or to get published or in a gallery and I think to myself what is the worst that will happen they just say no but at least I tried and it is better than never asking and never knowing if I missed an opportunity.

    I’m currently trying to get an internship with Phlearn and I’ve emailed & asked about it plenty of times.  Now, I’m just waiting patiently for a response.  It’s my goal for this academic year to get this internship and I won’t give up especially after watching this video.

    I did get a second to talk to Jeremy in passing Saturday at the Help Portrait in Nashville. I said, “Hey, I saw you on Phlearn with Aaron Nace.” He either asked me if I follow Phlearn or I said I follow Phlearn, and he said, “Aaron is an awesome guy,”    :)

    I didn’t actually shoot on Saturday, but I assisted two other photographers, it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to everyone!

    That is so cool that you ask for a discount! I honestly would not dare to do that… I would be so embarrassed if they said NO and looked at me like I am crazy… probably just in my head ;)  

    I guess I sometimes do not believe in me 100% yet. And maybe that is a good thing because there will always be so much to learn in life! So I consider asking someone if I can take their photo (e.g. recently when Fink was in Munich (I really like their music)). But I am working on that.

    this is my first time to watch one of your video posts and i would just like to say its fun to watch. i first so your work on flickr a couple of years ago and i was completely blown away. i’ll be saving up to purchase several of your videos. great job aaron. cheers

    ps: how about a video discussing how you create concepts and ideas for your photos. i know that some artists a inuitive in their approach and others are more calculated. what is your approach in coming up with ideas
