Lose Weight with Liquify – Episode #24 Wednesday

Today we are covering a simple use of the Liquify tool. We are removing a belly from one of our finest models. We use the forward warp tool, and dragging from the right to the left, slowly make Aaron thinner. When using the Liquify tool, we always make sure to save first, as well as make a selection around the area you want to liquify. This keeps your computer from crashing, as the liquify tool uses a lot of RAM.

Thank you for another great episode…can’t wait to try this!! I would love to learn how you light the foreground correctly without blowing out the background like in front of a window. I only use natural light for photography but can’t seem get this right. Either the background is completely over exposed or my subject is too dark. Thanks again for all the wonderful tutorials!!

    Hi Guys!
Yesterday I was watching this making off of Dave Hill´s “Girl on an Adventure” shoot.
    http://www.davehillphoto.com/bts/751
He is triggering the speed light from inside the water!??! I read on Vimeo that he is not using pocket wizards (they can´t be triggered from under water), he is using a thick sync cable. Any way… How the hell does he do it? how much does a case cost? how do you sync it under water, are there any other options? And lighting set ups from above?… I´m getting ready for the summer and I promise I will go into the depths!

Try to be in the shade or use a reflector, You need to compens the light of the background with the light of the subject.

  • Anonymous

sounds great, we can go over that soon :)

Found this sync cable, it should work, just make sure everything is water tight!

I like the subscription idea for the pro account. I like how Kelby training has the monthly subscription for their videos and have found it very useful.

    Awesome work as always

  • Tommy Danger

WOOT WOOT THAT BELLY TOO FAT WOOT WOOT THAT BELLY TOO FAT. Nice abs…Have you been doing P90X?

What about some night photography? Long exposures and such.

  • Calebspillyards

Love the idea of purchasing videos. I always work a random schedule and this would be a great solution!!!

I also love the idea of you showing us how you create an image for beginning to end. I already have a few images of yours in mind where I’d love to see “the making of” video for.
Also, interesting technique with the liquify tool. I normally just use a lasso, but this was great! I’d like to see you do this again though, with a more complex background.
    Thanks!

  • Kirsty

I would LOVE to see a Phlearn episode on how to alter the composition of a photo in Photoshop. For example, turning a standard portrait orientation into a square crop without cropping the original image, as in adding composition to it, does that make sense? You guys are really helpful & funny, please keep making Phlearn episodes :)

    That’s a great idea Josh Thanks :)

LOL. I have that and havn’t been able to get past the 4th CD LOL

  • Genn

What about adding light onto a person?
Like if you made an artificial light source, how would you create light onto the subject?
    I think that makes sense.
That would be great to see on an episode. :)

  • alana

what if it’s not a profile shot? what if it’s straight on?

    Your videos are awesome. Thanks!

  • Jessika

How would you go about using the liquify tool, on a subject with a busy background?

  • http://www.cap-photography.com Andrea Peipe

I have only recently started using the liquify tool, it is really cool indeed! Not sure if you ever showed us after this one how to use it with a background like trees or whatever or how to do it e.g. between the legs without affecting the other leg… must check! :) ))
