We use Wacom Intuos Pro (Small) Tablets here at Phlearn and we absolutely love them! If you are using a pressure sensitive tablet for the first time, here are a couple of tutorials to get you started.
All of our computers are mac, we find they work very well with editing. At Aaron’s desk he uses a 27″ iMac, and for the free episodes he works on a 15″ Macbook Pro.
As long as you are using a computer with more than 4GB of RAM, you should be ready to edit your images in Photoshop!
Most of our studio lighting is made by Paul C. Buff, their lights are reasonably priced, reliable, and their customer service is great. We shoot primarily with Einstein 640s.
We use a Canon 5d Mkiii for shooting stills, and have a 5d Mkii as a backup.
We shoot video on the same setup we use for stills, with a few additions. We use a Canon 5d Mkiii, a 5d Mkii, and a 6d.
Our primary video lens is a Canon EF 85mm 1.2L II USM. It knocks the background out of focus beautifully and is tack sharp at f/2.0. We usually shoot with two cameras, giving us greater flexibility in editing and a more sophisticated look. For the second camera we shoot with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM, giving us a closer crop.
We use light meters when shooting video with two cameras, it helps to match exposure. We recommend the Sekonic L-758DR, it is a great meter and comes equipped with integrated Pocketwizard technology so you can fire your strobes with the hit of a button.
We use Pocketwizard Plus II triggers, they connect to just about every strobe and are insanely reliable.
