Phlearn Pro tutorials have advanced my photography by leaps and bounds. Phlearn gets straight to the point, and teaches you in a way that is easy to follow along. The custom brushes that come with many of the Pro tuts are amazing, and make life easier. Don’t hesitate to purchase these, they are worth every penny!!

– Jeremy Hammons

Aaron has created an amazing resource for people to learn Photoshop. It’s a new world, and Phlearn is leading the way in teaching the next generation of image makers. Never stop learning!

– Dean Bradshaw

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to Photoshop or if you’ve been using it for years Phlearn’s Pro tutorials will teach you something new and help you understand the how, when, why of using each technique taught.

I’ve been using Photoshop for more than 10 years and Phlearn’s Pro tutorial has been the absolute best learning resource I’ve encountered.

– Bryan Dockett

First time I purchased a pro tutorial I was skeptical because I don’t normally buy anything off the internet. I had no idea what I was getting exactly, and frankly wasn’t sure if it would even be worth it since theres tons of videos on youtube.

After checking out a few of the daily tutorials I went ahead and decided to purchase the blacksmith pro tutorial. I was immediately hooked on the pro tutorials. I could not believe the phlearn team gave me over 3 hours of valuable learning information, and brushes.

At first I was phlearns greatest skeptic, but now a daily follow that has purchased 8 separate pro tutorials. Do yourself a favor, save some money and buy the package, because in the end you will want to purchase all of them and they are well worth it.

There is no better learning tutorials out there.

– Isaiah Vaba

Phlearn pro tutorials are exactly how I wanted a tutorial to be. Fun, extended, and super informative. I really like the way Aaron teaches, he’s is the teacher I always wanted to have but never could find. For years I’m roaming the net for good quality education on photography and Photoshop but I always get lost or bored after a while.

Since I know Phlearn, I always look out for the next episode. I’m hooked! Thanks Aaron for being such an inspiring tutor.

– Remco Zwart

I met Aaron at B&H in NYC for a free lesson on retouching a portrait and I was completely blown away by his skills, his style and -of course- enthusiasm! Then I follow the guy on twitter and he announces that he’s launching “something” called Phlearn! I give it a try and I became addicted to “phlearn” something new almost every day. Then, he launched the first Phlearn PRO and I became addicted once again. Nothing is left out, he tells you EVERYTHING he knows while he’s doing it! You see him doing the stuff step by step, explaining it to you and then you do it and magic happens!! I actually keep notes with the minutes and seconds of the videos of stuff I like to keep for future references (like how to apply some make up or how to put light on a fairy’s wings) :D

Phlearn PRO tutorials are phenomenal. Almost all I know in photoshop is thanks to those tutorials. I was completely lost before this, I had some skills but without direction and since Phlearn I’ve been able to apply Aaron’s techniques to my own style and I’m more than satisfied with the results.

I gotta warn you, you’ll get used to Aaron’s energy and style and it’s going to be hard for you to go back other tutorials from another artist.

– Eduardo Perez

Even taking into consideration the seemingly endless amounts of free tutorials on the internet, I was hard pressed on looking for something that contained a purpose in its teachings. Mostly all you would find is how to apply a one-off text effect you’ll never use in your work, or how to pull off a half-baked manipulation where the steps and narration get so verbatim that you get to the point where you’ll see yourself following directions for a couple of adjustment layers without any other guidance besides “Set hue to +34, lightness to -7″ and so on, and so forth.

Taking this into paid services such as creativeLIVE, or perhaps even Lynda.com; although you do receive some supportive commentary, you’ll find yourself doing a lot more review work and get to the end figuring out that the person teaching you this segment might benefit from some tutorials themselves.

I feel as though PhlearnPRO changes this. These tutorials on an arbitrary scale of work are not completely out of the norm, but the combination of thought process and conversation throughout the edit from the sketch to the sharpening will have you interested in the *why* as much if not more than the *how*. This is imperative to visual learners (Which I’m assuming by coming to websites such as these, we all are), and I feel that Phlearn nails this. I knew of the tools of photoshop and how to use them properly, but PhlearnPRO taught me *why* to use them and *when* would be the best time to according to what is on my canvas. That help alone has been immeasurable, and the experience of watching PhlearnPRO has been a pleasurable one, as you get to know Aaron on a professional, as well as personal level.

I recommend this service to anyone who’s been looking for that purpose in their post-processing that will give them the drive to execute work that they have had in their heads, and the confidence to follow through without feeling like you’ve bit off more than you can chew.

I’ve been following Aaron’s work since the days of the Flickr self portraits. I always left wishing I knew how he made those amazing images and feeling inspired, but inadequate. With Phlearn, I am learning those techniques and more! Not only does Aaron share his deep knowledge of Photoshop, he does it in a way that makes me feel as if I am sitting across from a friend. His delivery is at a great pace; moving quickly but making sure to explain the more difficult concepts fully, while not wasting time with endless repetition.

With some tutorials on other sites, the only way to use the lesson is on the image given. Phlearn tutorials leave me thinking of how I can use the techniques in other shots I’ve made. Phlearn lessons are not the standard Photoshop fare, but a much deeper learning experience. Aaron looks at achieving his goal in multiple ways and shares that unique insight with his viewers. Many of these “out of the box” techniques have been the most useful I’ve added to my Photoshop arsenal.

The abundance of free tutorials is amazing and the Phlearn Pro tutorials take editing to a whole new level! For an incredibly reasonable fee, I’ve learned not only how to fix/enhance an image, but a whole new way to approach Photoshop!

I look forward to seeing how the Phlearn Phamily grows! Thanks for all of the inspiration!

– Tim Shahady

I can’t say enough about Phlearn.

It’s the single most important resource for the development of my photography. But it doesn’t stop there. Aaron has taught me not only how to take a good photo, but he’s taught me a new way of viewing art, and the world for that matter. Anybody can explain the nuances of aperture, shutter speed, and iso, but it takes a special person to infuse creativity, change the perspective of others, and build a community.

Aaron’s achieved this is the last two years, and I cannot wait to see what he has in store for the future! Thanks for the invaluable gifts of art and PHamily!

– Jack Temple

I’ve just joined your great Phlearn community… and just bought my first Phlearn Pro tutorial too… (The Last Athlete).

It was really great… In my learning experience, tutorials often goes up to 50 or 60% of the professional level you want to achieve (tech stuff, criteria, lightining, etc) … the other percentage is totally up to you in your experience and perseverance in your work…. but it always seems to be certain PRO knowlege that is really hard to deduce… and it would take a large amount of hours (or days) to get there.

Although you always have to do your homework, this tutorials really give you that… specialized techinques and very practical ways to solve complex situations, and also… very important… they also train your eye and your brain to get a really good criteria to know what to look for in your images.

Thanks for your great work.

– Jose Duenas

Thanks for putting out some of the most accessible, interesting, and informative tutorials on the web. I am simply in awe of your Photoshop knowledge and techniques. I’ve been a working landscape photographer since 2008 and I thought I knew my way around the program. How wrong I was! In every Phlearn tutorial I’ve watched I’ve learned one, or two, or ten new things about Photoshop. But I’m not just talking about tips, tricks, and shortcuts. Your techniques are fantastic as well. I had no idea you could accomplish so much with the simple brush tool.

But of course, technical Photoshop knowledge alone doesn’t create great images. I’ve really gotten a lot out of hearing your theories and ideas on color and light matching for composites. It makes all the difference in the world. I can honestly say that even though I’ve only watched a handful of Phlearn tutes so far my portrait images are light years ahead of where they were only a few months ago.

Thanks much and keep up the great work.

– Josh Cripps

Without Phlearn I would not be where I’m now. I spent hours watching your tutorials, enjoying the high quality and friendly atmosphere. If I need to know something Phlearn is where I look first.

You have taught me so much and you guys are just incredible for sharing your knowledge with us, not asking anyting in return. You’ve showed me things I hadn’t even considered to think about and I have to say THANK YOU for being just awsome! I’m very proud to be part of the Phlearn Phamily!

– Lia Niobe

I have a lot of PRO tutorials, and they are all fantastic. The basic phlearn is great, but in the PRO tutorials Aaron goes much more in depth. In addition, in the PRO tutorials you can understand how to create a quality photo from the beginning to the end, and this allows also to understand the creative concept that there is behind all.

Some great skills in photoshop are explained and can be therefore applied to your shots. In one year, thanks to basic phlearn, but much more thanks to the PRO tutorials I bought, I reached a level in photoshop which I would have never thought I would have reached. :)

– Stefano Tealdi

As a photographer, I’m constantly working to hone my skills so I can create better and better work for myself and my clients – Phlearn Pro and the community here are an essential part of this. I’ve spent countless hours and dollars on photography classes but I recommend Phlearn time and time again because I haven’t found a better, more up-to-date, or affordable source of Photoshop knowledge than what’s available right here.

There are plenty of talented photographers who are mediocre teachers and plenty of gifted teachers without photographic talent. Aaron Nace doesn’t have either of those problems

– Chris Owyoung

Living and working in South Korea, it has been very difficult to learn photography and photoshop. Without any friends, or photographers to talk to, I would spend hours browsing the internet, desperately trying to find any tidbit of information that would help me improve. All I could ever find were scraps, the odd tip, conflicting information everywhere, critique without advice, and it was as frustrating as it was confusing.

By chance I stumbled onto Phlearn one day, and was amazed at the idea of the Phlearn PRO’s, jaw dropping, beautiful images that I could watch being created from start to finish. I bought one immediately and stayed up late watching it. I was blown away! I now own more than ten. Not only did I learn vast amounts of new techniques, I learned how to look at my own work with a more critical eye, I learned how to make my images believable, and I set a higher bar for myself. As a teacher myself, I really believe Aaron is a great instructor. He’s always engaging, fun, infectiously enthusiastic and he holds nothing back, he makes mistakes, he corrects his mistakes, overcomes problems and he will show you what is possible if you keep trying and work hard at your craft.

Sure, other photographers offer ‘tell-all’ tutorials, but I have found these to have less information and a much higher price tag. Here we have a community. Wherever I am, I’m only a few clicks away from the best photoshop tutorials in the world, and I come back to them often. I’m not a professional photographer, but I love to create and Phlearn has given me the power to create images I am really proud of.

– Mark Jones

– Xanath Mirell

The amount of knowledge you learn from the Pro videos is invaluable.

I would encourage it to anyone who is just starting out – or for anyone that wants to take their craft to another level, this is the place to start. Right here at Phlearn. You will learn techniques that you had no idea existed in Photoshop!

– Ron Ibarra

I appreciate the quality/thoroughness of the pro tutorials here at Phlearn. They are a phenomenal value for the money. I should know — so far I’ve purchased 11 of them.

I’ve purchased many photoshop tutorials and PHLEARN is (in my opinion), are the best value for the money by FAR.Love the entire Phlearn site as well. If there is time in my day to only check out one site, It’s going to be PHLEARN.

Thanks to you and your team for all you do!

– Jeff Whitlock

I am from Mexico, i found out about Phlearn watching the [Framed] show staring Aaron Nace. What attracted me to the site was the creativity he injects in his projects. Actually, i was looking for something like that, a way to create cool ideas and translate them to a story through photography, and that’s what i feel Aaron does with his work.

Also, i was looking for a tutorial on how to enhance skin dodge and burning, so i decided to buy the tutorial here. I found it very useful because it encourage you to use your hands to paing… almost literaly, paint with a tablet. So, so far, Phlearn is a site that i stop bye every day.

Keep the good work!!!

– Daniel Flores

Several years ago, when I first got into photography I looked online for tips, tutorials and so on, but there was very little good information out there. Then I took Aaron’s class that he used to teach and I started watching Phlearn when it came out and my skills dramatically improved in the whole understanding of photography, along with my photoshop abilities.

I have been using photoshop for 8 years now and ever since I took Aaron’s class and watched some of the Pro tutorials, I have become significantly more fluent in photoshop. It’s funny because when I feel I understand how most conceptual images are put together and edited, Aaron comes out with a new technique that changes my whole perspective.

– Jeff Thomas

There’s not much more to say about Phlearn and the work of Aaron Nace that hasn’t already been said, but it bares meaning every time someone spouts a similar story. Phlearn has been invaluable to my development as a photographer. Whether it be learning new techniques, understanding pitfalls and avoiding cliches/ common mistakes, learning important business practice or just taking the time to humble ones self to the creative brilliance this site is always oozing.

The Pro Tutorials are just too good to comprehend sometimes. Being given so much for so little is a rare encounter these days, but it exists here, at Phlearn. The tutorials provide stunning depth and tutelage for amazing images at very affordable prices. Money aside though, the thing I enjoy most about these videos is the way Aaron walks through an image, recognizing which bits may need to be explained multiple times and never ignoring the fact he has made these video to TEACH. He is not, like so many other tutorial sites, just showing you how he made an image and leaving up to you to figure out the details.

I could speak for hours on just how brilliant this site is, but I won’t because the site is more than capable to show you for itself. A unique website that accommodates to all skill levels, whether you watch a video a day, or return when you need help, you can get something from Phlearn immediately.

– John Liot

I had been editing with Photoshop for about 1,5 years already when I discovered Phlearn! It was pretty much at the beginning and if I remember correctly, I found out about it via Aaron’s Flickr stream. It must have been around episode 25 or so and ever since then I have been hooked! I loved the old episodes and I love the news ones and I esp. love the Pro Tutorials because it makes you understand the magic behind it!

I used to watch tutorials on YouTube and could never really follow them too well so I gave up eventually, most of the time pretty frustrated because I wanted to improve my skills! Phlearn has showed me the inside secrets of Photoshop and how easy it can be if you know certain things! Thanks to Phlearn, I have improved to a whole new level and I will forever be grateful for that.

You rock, Aaron and Phlearn! <3

– Andrea Peipe

I found many new and unique editing and photography ideas that have opened up my portfolio into so many new and fun directions. I really like how every element isn’t just pitched as a new trick or gimmick but a group of many final elements that are layered to create a wonderful image. There is so much useful information on the web but it seems as though it is very condensed and clear on this website. The tutorial and clips are very easy to follow and help you produce your own creative ideas.

– Scott Goodwill

First of all I must say that I don’t speak english very well (it’s not my native language) but I’ll try to explain myself. How PHLearn has changed my life? Well… Do you know the feeling of looking back and been ashamed of yourself? This is what it happens to me when I look my old photos. Phlearn has tought me a lot of usefull thing: blending, dodging, retouching… things that it could seem easy to do but that they aren’t.

As a non-english-native I have to say that Aaron speaks very well, so it’s easier for me to understand him. In addition, when he explains something, he doesn’t tell you what you should do but he shows you. And, you know, it makes you feel relieved.

In conclusion, if you’re thinking of buying some PRO Tutorials let me tell you something: “Stop thinking! Just buy it!” It’s the best inversion that you could do. They’re usefull and you’re going to understand them quite well. And I’m sure that you will be able to make fantastic things soon!
