Freckles Made Easy
Get that freckled look and avoid the sunburn. All you’ll need is our set of custom Photoshop Brushes and any portrait (we provide a free sample image for practice.)
Create a Curves Adjustment Layer over the layer with your subject and pull the center of the curve down slightly to make the skin tones slightly darker. Reveal the Layer Mask of the Curves Adjustment Layer and hit CTRL or CMD + I to invert it. Grab your Brush Tool and, using the custom freckle brushes, paint white on the Layer Mask where you want freckles to appear. We recommend using a Flow of about 30% to subtly build the effect.
Use the Eraser Tool with a large, soft brush to help blend areas and remove freckles from unwanted areas.
Quick Tip: Freckles are more prevalent on areas of the skin that are exposed to the sun more often. Be sure to focus the freckles on the tops of cheeks, nose, and shoulders!
This pack comes with 3 brushes that represent different types of freckles. Feel free to create more or add more variation by adjusting the Scattering, Shape Dynamics, Angle Jitter, Size Jitter, and Transfer.
What are Photoshop Brushes?
At its most basic, the Photoshop brush tool is used for drawing lines and shapes in any color on a layer in your document using strokes. After selecting a brush, you can draw simply by clicking the left mouse button a single time, or by holding it down and dragging your cursor around the page to create multiple marks with a single stroke.
