Make It Rain!

Weather is one of the most powerful ways to add drama and mood to a photo. Now it’s easier than ever to add rain with a click, using our custom rain Photoshop brush.

Rain can be hard to capture in camera. This brush gets you that photorealistic rainy look without waiting around for the right weather.

Why Use a Custom Rain Brush

Real rain is inconsistent. Drops vary in size, speed, and visibility depending on how close they are to the camera, and that variation is exactly what makes rain look believable instead of pasted on.

Built-In Depth

This pack includes three brushes: one for vertical rain, one for rain angled from the left, and one for rain angled from the right. Combining them on separate layers is what sells the sense of depth.

No Guesswork

The brush automatically scatters the rain, varies its size, and adjusts its opacity as you paint, so you’re not hand-placing individual streaks to get a natural result.

Getting Started

Download the brush and install it in Photoshop, then start painting rain on the included sample image to get a feel for how it behaves before trying it on your own photos.

Creating Depth With Layers

To use this custom brush, create a few layers and change the opacity on each one to represent rain getting closer to or farther from the camera. Far-away rain should be smaller and less visible than rain close to the lens.

To paint rain, load the custom brush into Photoshop, choose white as your foreground color, and start painting. The brush handles the scattering, sizing, and opacity variation for you.

Choosing Your Rain Angle

To change the angle of any of the three brushes, go to Window > Brush, click Brush Tip Shape, and adjust the angle. Matching the angle to your photo’s wind direction or camera angle keeps the rain feeling like it belongs in the scene.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Using Only One Layer

A single layer of rain reads as flat. Stack a few layers at different opacities so some rain sits closer to the camera and some farther back.

Ignoring the Angle

Rain that falls straight down in a photo where everything else suggests wind looks off. Match the brush angle to the rest of the scene.

Overdoing the Density

Too much rain on too many layers can turn a moody photo into a blurry mess. Build up gradually and check the image at full size as you go.

What Are Photoshop Brushes?

At its most basic, the Photoshop brush tool is used for drawing lines and shapes in any color on a layer in your document using strokes. After selecting a brush, you can draw simply by clicking the left mouse button a single time, or by holding it down and dragging your cursor around the page to create multiple marks with a single stroke.

Make Every Photo Rain-Ready

With a few layers, varied opacity, and the right angle, this brush turns any dry photo into one with real atmosphere. Download it, install it, and start adding weather to your work.
