  1. Way better than watching anything on YouTube and he explains things so wonderfully! Best vestment of my life!

  2. Brand new to smart objects. Excellent start to future uses of this tool.

  3. Getting back into my hobby of photography. This time I’m concentrating on post production. I decided to start as a newbie and I’m surprised of how many little details I am picking up. Aaron is by far the easiest instructor to listen to and follow. I have been following Phlearn for 10 years on and off except for the stylish hair cut changes he’s still the humble and knowledgeable instructor. No ego just concise information. Chicago misses him. 2024

  4. Aaron ! Once again you make learning enjoyable and easy to understand. You have a wonderful personality and leave me giggling when I am done with a tutorial. You have a unique gift to teach. Keep it coming! Happy I found you!

  5. It is easy to understand and easy to follow the different lessons.

  6. excellent courses

  7. Great tutorial. Had knowledge with photoshop previously. But decided to go from start to refresh my knowledge and absolutly learnt new technics nd. new things. Thank you 🙂

  8. Love these!! Aaron makes everything fun and easy to understand. I really enjoy his sense of humour! I have used Lightroom for a few years and decided my winter (I live in Canada and winters are Long) project was to learn Photoshop. It’s truly amazing how much I have learned and how it has changed my edit workflow. The money I invested I know is well spent!! Thank-You PHLEARN!!

  9. Just amazing! I was searching here and there on youtube, dozens of channels, ahh that was so tiring. But then, thank God I found PHLEARN and now I don’t need to go anywhere else to learn PS. How I wissshh Aaron could teach us more about graphic designing and also start illustrator so that I can learn illustrator at one place instead of searching here and there just confusing my mind. At least refer us someone like Aaron who teach us illustrator like he teaches PS.

  10. I took the 30 Days of Photoshop to reacquaint myself with it. I haven’t used it in years. I recently acquired good cameras and returned to photography. The 30 Days course was magnificent. To support such a great program, and to enhance my skills, a pro membership was a simple no-brainer. I am a trained instructor myself, and Aaron is the pinnacle of excellence. The tutorials, whether free or pro, are sublime.

  11. Aaron Nace is great. Love his teaching style and how he teaches you alternatives to use the vast tools in Photoshop. I learned so much from “The Beginner’s Guide to Photoshop” and can’t wait to expand on the knowledge with other Phlearn Pro tutorials.

  12. This is a great tutorial, very organized and easy to understand

  13. Fantastic tutorials, even though I would consider myself an intermediate level user of photoshop I learned a ton with this tutorial. Thank you Aaron!

  14. I’m going to give Aaron just one star. I don’t want him to get a big head. This course is amazing. He works on good images and has a keen aesthetic. He’s precise, thorough and funny. I almost think of him as “my good friend Aaron”. But I’m still giving him one star. If he was running restaurant, he’d be happy with that.

  15. This is really great work. I didn’t know much about Photoshop and very soon it became clear and logical to me. Tnx for that. When I come back to continue the tutorial it does not always starts over where I left. This is a bit annoying. Is it me or the system?

  16. Masterpiece !!!!!!

  17. thank you so much !!! this tutorial is very helpful! I wish you all the success, happiness, and joy in your life.

  18. This is an awesome tutorial for any beginner or intermediate user of Photoshop. I’ve been using Photoshop for years but after going through this tutorial, I am much more confident in my workflow choices, have a better understand of how some of the tools work, and what are the best non-destructive options. I will for sure come back to this tutorial when needed. Aaron is a wonderful teacher.

  19. This course covers everything you need to get started in Photoshop. I’m so glad I found this site and I really learned a lot so far. Aaron has a very fun and likable way to explain things, also the course is grouped in to nice portions to make sure you won’t be overwhelmed. I highly recommend this for anybody who wants to learn the basics of photoshop or for those that took a long break from it like myself

  20. After a long photoshop brake ( ~2 years) this tutorial was a great help to get into ps again. And still it was not only “helping remembering” it was also some new tricks. can’t wait to move on with phlearns learning tutorials

  21. great course so far! Though how Aaron switches very fast between layers and masks and sometimes does things without explaining. it´s getting confusing and hard to figure things out, where the hell did he get that from and so on… like that

  22. I’ve been a member of PHLEARN for just about a year and love the fact that I can go back and sharpen up on my knowledge as and when I need to. Aaron explains things in a very understandable way being sure to repeat the methods and shortcuts he would use in his workflow. After a very short amount of time, the little messages given throughout the tutorials become engrained on your brain and before you know it, you’re navigating PS like an expert. Lots to learn, but Aaron makes it very enjoyable.

  23. I have taken photoshop classes before and Aaron is by far the BEST teacher ever. He explains things in detail, I love the short organized video clips… I seriously love it all and would recommend this class to EVERYONE that wants to learn PS from the Beginning!!!!

  24. Arron, fantastic! I’ve just recently joined Phlearn and using photoshop, your beginners guide has been a really big help. Over the last 13 years or so, on and off I have mainly done landscape photography. as a hobby and to date solely used Lightroom for basic edits of my RAW files. However, I now want to learn Photoshop and kept getting drawn to your videos on YouTube recently trying to research how to use Photoshop and decided to sign up. Just completed The Beginners Guide to Photoshop and already I can see a massive difference in my confidence with the tool and going over some older RAW images using photoshop to post process has made a big difference. Still very much a newbie with Photoshop and have felt over the years that my post processing of RAW images lets me down some what and determined to grow and learn to plug that gap, on to the next Phlearn course. Thanks again for all the training, you explain everything in a very easy to understand manner 🙂

  25. Great tutorial! Totally worth it, especially for the price, you’re getting alot of valuable information. I learned alot and fell more confident working in Photoshop as a result. Can’t wait to expand on the knowledge here with the other more in depth tutorials. Thank you, Aaron!

  26. Love your teaching style! So far awesome learning for me…🥰

  27. The best and most comprehensive Photoshop course I’ve ever taken. I have a degree in design and still learned more here than in college.

  28. Awesome! Only halfway through and already feel like I have learned a lot and am fairly comfortable in Photoshop.

  29. Another excellent job; Thank you!

  30. I really had a great time learning from the video. Can’t wait to move other advanced tutorials!

  31. Pretty much done on this, Over all it was well presented. Does take time to understand fully but what I found was watching each video a couple of times before taking some notes and doing it myself. I have always found Aaron does do the job very. Would I recommend this to someone? my answer would be yes. though a word of caution do try and use photoshop first to understand its basic functionality first

  32. Speaks too fast, does actions without saying, went to select on sample image as Aaron did with layer turned off and wouldn’t select as it did in tutorial. Having done a degree and seeing the struggle others students had; I cannot imagine them having a chance of keeping up with these tutorials. Just a struggle to get even the easiest tips without constant rewinds. Please compare his words per minute to other tutors.

  33. Thank you so much! This whole Tutorial was enlightening and I learned a ton. Maybe you consider updating new tools such as sky replacement. I’m excited for the next ones on my watchlist.

  34. I had a really good time while learning all of these stuff! Aaron is honestly an amazing teacher, he explains everything really well and because of that it is really easy to follow. Highly recommend to everyone who has no idea how to do anything in photoshop. Thank you!

  35. Such an amazing course! I couldn’t hope for a better explanation of the basic PS features. I’ve been learning a ton.

  36. Aaron’s education style and the Phlearn resources have enabled me to learn the basics of Photoshop in less than a month! I’ve had a photoshop subscription for a long time but failed to really get past first base with this software. Phlearns’ training package has got me to the point where I can successfully apply use the tools and achieve desirable results, thank-you Aaron.

  37. This man is simply brilliant and a MASTER at teaching Photoshop. He really makes learning Photoshop fun – I have never binged watched Tutorials in my life until I found PHLEARN. Thank you Aaron Nace!

  38. Big fan of Aaron and PHLearn. Learning online isn’t the easiest for me and Aaron’s explanations are very good and concise. Thank you!

  39. Very pleased with the content and the real world examples. Trying to do it in real time, I get stuck and have to go back in the video at times. In the end, this is good because I watch it more times when things are difficult. Very happy with the subscription.

  40. As a Lightroom user, this was a great introduction to the workflow in Photoshop. Aaron does a great job of getting you familiar with the program and highlights some of the more common applications for using Photoshop to edit you images.

  41. Terrific tutorial, quite easy to understand.

  42. This is a great tutorial. I have learned a lot and it has helped me to butter understand the use of many of the tools in photoshop. I do however have a questing. Several times Aaron created a new layer and then did an apply image, then copied it to a new document. Couldn’t you do the same thing by using the Merge copy all visible lavers keyboard shortcut, (Alt+Ctrl+Shift+E) ?

  43. I have used Photoshop for many years, but never really understood all the possibilities. I found Aaron’s free Photoshop classes and discovered they were excellent for filling in my knowledge gaps. This Photoshop class was all I hoped it would be and more. The projects were fun and very useful as learning experiences. I can’t wait to learn more with my PHLEARN PRO subscription. Thanks Aaron!

  44. I’ve been using PS for years and mostly self taught. What that means is that I never took a step by step approach to learning all the tools and how to combine them. I generally needed to do something, found a tutorial on YouTub – PHLearn of course – and plowed my way through. I always enjoyed the way you structured your lesson: What, Show, Recap. Brilliant. I finally bit the bullet, purchased a subscription at the beginning of the year and scheduled one module per day, with breaks over the weekends, and now I have a much better grasp of how the pieces fit together. I couldn’t be happier. I am forever grateful.

  45. it is the best teacher

  46. I have a few suggestions for this tutorial. Because it was called “Beginner’s Guide” I believed you. That said, I think you should have started with an overview of Photoshop. What do people use it for? Why did you start the tool section with two photos (I am generally trying to work on one photo)? What the heck is a layer? I’m half way through Chapter 3 and I still do not know these things. Also, why would you be using your pressure tablet thing to teach beginners? I certainly don’t have that item, and I’m not likely to race out and buy one right away. Third thing, can you just stop with the keyboard shortcuts??? I am struggling to get a grasp on Photoshop, and there is no way I will recall the shortcuts. I presume I will be hunting through the menus, which might be a good thing because it will remind me of the various options. Overall, I’m not thrilled with this class so far. And I just have to add, it didn’t help that suddenly you were discussing Gaussian something… A what now?

  47. Amazing!!!

  48. I have on and off for many years, used PS, without any structured learning experience. I stumbled across PHLEARN, tried one of the free tutorials and saw what was being delivered and unbelievably (with the Xmas discount) how cheap a years subscription was. Took out an annual subscription I am really happy with the training opportunities this subscription offers me for the next year. I completed this basic course and whilst I skipped a lot of it (because I was very familiar with much of the content, I focussed own the photo editing and workflow training. I have picked up some really useful tips from those, which I just either didn’t know or never practiced in the past. Early days yet but I am extremely happy with the content, delivery, material, overall quality of the package and of course the price. Really looking for ward to progressing through the other lessons and applying these skills to many of the images I have taken over the years. Well done to all at PHLEARN. It’s refreshing to see such quality product and service at a reasonable price. Hugh

  49. I have been using Photoshop since CS3. I have been self-taught and thanks to YouTube picked up a few tricks along the way. I really wanted to step my game up as far as photo retouching and finishing go. So I decided to buy my subscription to PHLearn. Just doing The Beginners Guide… as an experienced user, has taught me a lot. It refreshed what I knew already. The best part is that it has also opened up a lot of areas I never thought to explore. I look forward to taking these courses as seriously as my schooling way back in the day. Thanks, Aaron for helping me become a true PHOTOSHOP MASTER!

  50. I agree with all the positive comments. I have to be honest I subscribe to others (Kelby, Creative Live, etc) He takes the time to explain or refresh EVERY STEP including if the example he is referring to is in multiple parts of the course. I can’t believe nobody else does this, and he goes into full detail about EVERYTHING, I have watched other platforms and they will make an adjustment layer or levels and move on, with no details as to why. This difference is huge. One thing I am unclear on though. Masks and Inverted masks. If I make a white mask and paint with a brush, you’re essentially showing everything and then brushing what you don’t want to be shown. In inverted masks, you are hiding everything and then brushing what you want to be shown. I don’t understand why to make both in a document. eg: why not just make the same mask all the time? and either brush what you want to be kept or not.

  51. Aaron Nace is a superb instructor. It’s really that simple.

  52. I don’t write many reviews but I had to do it for this one. I’ve just finished this course which was a great pleasure. Why? it’s because it’s well structured from start to finish and covers all the main tools a beginner like me has to know. But what makes this course amazing is Aaron, which has a great way of explaining things, he does it in a relaxed, clear and funny way, and I think he transfers that good vibe to you allowing you to better understand Photoshop. Overall this course and the PRO subscription are great value for money. I’m looking forward to learning more about Photoshop especially product photography and retouching.

  53. Aaron thank you so much for these tutorial, because of you I ordered the Wacom thing ( thank you!!) and after beiing away of photoshop for 10 years I understood so many things and learned new tricks…. In this lock down you give me a creative solution for keeping peace in my mind through creating learning!! I would like to mention that I would be very happy if you made a tutorial with vector graphics and their use to sites !! Great work for all the team behind PH, big kisses and hugs from Greece!!!!

  54. Perfect Job! I really like this tutorial. Since a long time I tried to learn Photoshop on a Workshop and with books but never came right thru. But with this tutorial I now get an idea on what layers are for and how to work non-destructive. It`s perfekt to watch the videos, stop and then trie it myself. If it works fine, if not just go back and look again. This is the perfect workflow for me. Thanks Aaron

  55. Absolutely love his teaching style. So so so helpful.

  56. Great course! Aaron is an amazing instructor! He makes learning photoshop fun. I like his way of teaching by taking it step by step and explaining how it’s done. Did I mention that I like his humor in his videos? lol 🙂 I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn photoshop.

  57. First month. I did the 30 days free course of PH that PHLEARN provides in YOUTUBE and I was instantly hooked. After that I purchase the PRO license and I have been doing this course “The Beginner’s Guide to Photoshop” for the last month. I finished today. This is ABSOLUTELY GREAT! Aaron provides great feedback for every tool and he is not afraid to repeat the same commands over and over again. The free 30 days of PS in youtube is a great tool for someone who does not anything from the PS world and the PRO guide goes deeper with the same pace and great teachings from Aaron. I will look further what next steps I could take in my learning path. Thanks again for the course and the hours of great content.

  58. Definitely recommend. Explains everything perfectly and I feel comfortable with photoshop now.

  59. A great way to start in the photoshop world. Thanks for everything I have learn so much!

  60. Loving these tutorials!

  61. Can it be better !? Really nice job Aron, thank you!

  62. Aaron is just the best, i love the way he is explaining it – with humor, a smile and a lot of passion – thanks 🙂

  63. Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! You’re awesome. Thanks a million.

  64. I am a retired teacher and I am very picky as to who I will watch learn from. Aaron is by far one of the better if not best software instructors I have watched, listened to and learned from . Phlearn has a myriad of topics and the ones I have watched (so far) including the Beginner’s Guide, are well paced with excellent examples and in a style that is both instructive and fun. Thanks!

  65. I just signed up and I am already hooked. So excited to finally embark on a serious photoshop journey.

  66. Going through the steps, and as we progress through the chapters it becomes easier and easier, and I work with a project of my own each time to try on. If there was ever a small request I could make is, I view these on a laptop and tablet and often the tools are a bit too tiny to see ..I would love to see these selections magnified a little in the beginner’s tutorials, but as we progress through the chapters, navigating around becomes easier. I greatly appreciate that every time a short cut is used it comes up on the screen as a reminder 🙂 Thanks heaps Phlearn. KB

  67. iam a lightroom user since more than 5 years , in between I tried Photoshop little bit ;to be honest I never know what I was doing , I felt little hard to learn photoshop .then I heard about phlearn learning also I was watching phlearn YouTube channel then I finally joined the learning program , I feel much confidence and comfy with PS and thankyou for making it much easier..

  68. I have always been afraid of venturing into the labyrinth that is photoshop, hence my clinging to Lightroom for dear life. I even dipped my toe into the pool of Affinity Photo because most Photoshop courses looked hard to understand. I stumbled upon PHLEARN and Aaron’s masterly and fun style of teaching. I am proud to say I have completed this course and am yearning to explore more advanced courses on this platform. Well done, PHLEARN and a big thank you to the photoshop rockstar, Mr Aaron Nace, Ladies and Gentlemen.

  69. I Phlearned so much; thank you.

  70. This was an amazing tutorial. I’ve haven’t work in Photoshop since highschool and this tutorial just explains everything so good, it refresed my memory and added so much more in the process. I love that he keeps telling you tips and tricks that you can’t find anywhere. Those little things makes all the difference. Thanks Aaron, you’re a great teacher. P.S. Do yourself a favor and buy a graphic tablet, it takes a little to get used to it but when you do, nothing will be the same.

  71. So much to learn!! Great job in breaking things down so one can understand why you need to do one thing or another and not just do it. I am excited to use what I have learned to my photography!

  72. I’ve watched a lot of Photoshop tutorials from a few different sources (paid and free), and I ALWAYS recommend PHLearn! Fun, easy to understand, well broken down, and easy to follow! Great job! Nick

  73. What an incredible guide. The free YouTube videos are great, but this goes to the next level, and I am so glad I spent the money to subscribe to the Phlearn Pro. There is no better tutor than Aaron; interesting, funny and incredibly knowledgable, the lessons are delivered in such a way that make learning a joy.

  74. I know PS tools and I am using PS for the past 5 years but the way of explaining and introducing the retouching with examples is really good.

  75. Love you so much Aaron Nace. Thank you so much for detail sharing about PTS. It’s so helful for us. Thanks again
