How to Install Your Presets
A short PDF that walks you through installing this pack in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus three tips for better results.
DESCRIPTION
Add dramatic colors and rich contrast to your photos with our Film Noir Lightroom Preset Pack!
Across the pack, every preset lowers contrast and pulls back the highlights, while most open the shadows and lower saturation, a good fit for forest walks, couples and quiet landscapes. After you apply one, raise Contrast slightly for more snap.
One zip holds the 10 presets as .xmp files, which work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on your computer and Lightroom on your phone, plus .dng versions for older releases of the mobile app, each in its own labeled folder, with 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Film Noir Lightroom Presets · 10 Looks
Muted Greens and Soft, Dark Tones
Ten presets that mute greens, soften contrast and keep skin warm for a darker, film-like mood. They work in Lightroom Classic and in Lightroom on desktop and mobile.
Bold & Dramatic

A Moodier Feed in a Few Clicks
Film Noir gives a whole series of photos one darker, film-like mood. In the feed, bright forest greens settle into deep, muted olive, and couples, flowers and landscapes share the same soft, earthy tone. Six of the ten presets leave the white balance untouched.
Softer Whites, Lower Contrast
All ten presets lower contrast and pull the brightest tones down on the tone curve, so whites turn soft and creamy instead of pure white. Every preset also lowers highlights, and eight lower whites. That gives the matte, film-like finish across the set.
Greens Muted Every Time
Each preset cuts green saturation, from a moderate amount to all of it, and all ten tone down yellows as well, so foliage turns olive while skin stays warm. Blues and aquas lose saturation in all ten too.
Best on: couples and engagement sessions, forest and outdoor portraits, and stories told across a series of photos.

Mossy Gold
Mossy Gold drains the bright green from a forest and turns it a pale, silvery olive. The dirt path goes a deeper brown and the couple’s skin picks up a warm, golden tone, so they stand out from the trees. Overall saturation drops by just 9.
Low Contrast, Lighter Greens
Contrast drops a lot and the whites come down for a soft, even look. Shadows lift by 21, and the point curve holds the brightest white well below pure white. Greens lose more than half their saturation but get lighter, which is what turns dense leaves into that hazy olive.
Warm Skin, Darker Yellows
The white balance warms slightly and oranges and reds gain a little color, while yellows are muted and darkened, keeping the earth tones rich. Blues and aquas lose around 40 of their saturation as well.
Best on: engagement sessions, couples in the woods, and outdoor portraits with busy green backgrounds.

Soft Vert
Soft Vert quiets loud colors and opens up dark areas. The yellow and orange wildflowers fade to cream and pale tan, and the dark hair and background show more detail while still reading deep and moody. Exposure rises a touch and overall saturation drops by 38, which calms the whole palette.
Lifted Blacks, Soft Highlights
Blacks and shadows are raised and contrast drops, giving a faded matte finish, while highlights are pulled down hard. The point curve also holds the brightest white well below pure white. A warm yellow tint goes into the shadows.
Yellows and Greens Fade Out
Yellows and greens lose most of their color, but reds and oranges barely change, so her lips and skin keep their natural tone against the muted bouquet. Blues, aquas and purples lose about a third of their saturation too.
Best on: close-up portraits, flowers and details, and photos with one loud color you want to calm.

Green Moss
Green Moss takes the green out of a forest and leaves warm, rosy browns. The tree trunks and background turn soft beige and brown, and his leather jacket deepens to a rich, near black against them. Overall saturation drops by 22, and the white balance stays where it was.
Greens Go Dark and Quiet
Greens are heavily desaturated and darkened a lot, and yellows are muted hard, so any leaves recede into the background. Shadows are darkened while the white point comes down for soft highlights. Contrast eases by 24, while the point curve lifts the darker midtones slightly.
A Warm Tint in the Shadows
A yellow tint goes into the shadows and oranges are toned down, which keeps the face warm without turning it orange. Oranges also get a little darker, and blues lose almost half their saturation.
Best on: hiking and adventure portraits, woodland and forest scenes, and moody outdoor menswear.

Lightroom Preset Questions, Answered
What’s included in the Film Noir Lightroom Presets?
The Film Noir Lightroom Presets include 10 presets: Green Moss, Soft Vert, Basque, Vintage Gold, Mossy Gold, Almost Bronze, Bengal Wood, Courtyard, Linden Green and Camellia Pink. They come as .XMP presets for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus .DNG versions for older versions of the mobile app.
What kind of photos are the Film Noir Lightroom Presets made for?
Photos where you want drama and mood. The presets add deep shadows, soft highlights, rich contrast and bold color, and each of the 10 looks has its own color palette. Try deep reds for a portrait or steely blues for an urban landscape, and every look can be a starting point for your own cinematic style.
Will the Film Noir presets make skin look unnatural?
They are designed not to. Some color presets can make skin look unnatural, so these were built by professional image creators with a focus on adding style without damaging the delicate skin tones of your subjects. The color goes precisely into the highlights, midtones and shadows of the photo instead.
Are Lightroom Presets included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?
Yes. A PHLEARN PRO membership includes every Lightroom Preset pack, plus PRO Tutorials, LUTs, Photoshop Actions and Photoshop Brushes.
Which version of Lightroom do I need?
The .XMP presets work in Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer, in Lightroom on your computer and in Lightroom on your phone. For older versions of the mobile app, use the .DNG files in the download. We recommend the latest version.
How do I install Lightroom Presets?
In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click the + in the Presets panel, choose Import Presets and select the .XMP files. The PDF install guide in your download covers Lightroom on your computer and your phone too, and every method is on our Lightroom Presets install guide.
I imported the pack, but I can’t see it.
The new group arrives collapsed and sits in alphabetical order. Scroll the Presets panel, find the group named after the pack and click its arrow.
Do I have to install the presets on my phone separately?
Not if you import them into Lightroom on your computer: within a few minutes they show up in Lightroom on any device signed in to the same Adobe account. If you use Lightroom Classic, import the .XMP files in the mobile app: open a photo, tap Presets, then Yours, then the three-dot menu and Import Presets.
Do the presets work on RAW and JPEG photos?
Yes. Every preset is built to work on both RAW and JPEG files, and each one can be adjusted after you apply it.
The preset looks too strong. What do I do?
Lower the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel, then adjust White Balance and Exposure for that photo. Every photo starts from different light.
Do you offer refunds?
Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
