DESCRIPTION

Freshen up your photos with the bright whites and crisp cool colors of winter. If you love taking photos out in the snow, you’re going to love our PHLEARN Winter Lightroom Presets!

Whites go up and shadows lighten on all ten, and most pull back the highlights, so they suit snowy street portraits, parkas on gray days and frosted trees. After you apply one, adjust Exposure, since some presets darken the frame and others brighten it.

One zip holds the 10 presets as .xmp files, which work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on your computer and Lightroom on your phone, plus .dng versions for older releases of the mobile app, each in its own labeled folder, with 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Winter Lightroom Presets · 10 Looks

Clean White Snow and Bright Faces

Ten presets that brighten snow and open up shadows while keeping skin natural. They work in Lightroom Classic and in Lightroom on desktop and mobile.

A Brighter Winter Feed

The Winter pack makes gray winter light look bright and clean across a whole season of photos. In the feed, snow and overcast skies turn whiter, dark coats and faces open up, and the grid reads as one fresh set. Six of the ten lower exposure slightly, and four raise it.

Every Preset Lifts Shadows and Whites

All ten presets push the Shadows and Whites sliders up, which is what makes snow bright and keeps faces under hoods and hats from going dark. Eight also pull the highlights down, and all ten lift the light tones on the curve.

Skin Left Natural

Orange saturation moves by six points or less in every preset, so skin keeps its own color while snow and sky get cleaner. Four cool the white balance, none warm it, and five add a brightening vignette.

Best on: snow days, winter portraits and holiday sessions, and seasonal Instagram feeds.

Included – PHLEARN Absolute ZeroOriginal

Absolute Zero

Absolute Zero turns dull, gray snow into a clean, bright white. The street and buildings behind her lighten, the falling snow stands out, and her mustard sweater and dark jeans keep their color and depth. Exposure itself drops by a tenth of a stop, and the white balance does not change.

Whites Up, Darks Held

Whites and shadows are raised a lot while the tone curve pulls the darker tones back down, so the photo brightens without the jeans and coat turning gray. Contrast is eased and clarity adds a little crispness. Highlights come down a little, and texture rises slightly too.

A Light Vignette

A positive vignette brightens the corners, which helps snowy edges blend into the white instead of darkening around her. Oranges lean slightly toward red, and no other color is adjusted.

Best on: snowfall in the city, winter street portraits, and colorful coats and sweaters in the snow.

Coated White

Coated White lifts a dim winter portrait into a bright, airy one. The dark background turns light and soft, his face and the fur-lined hood brighten, and the orange parka and cream knit scarf keep their color. Exposure drops by a tenth of a stop, and contrast eases slightly.

Brighter Midtones and Highlights

Shadows, highlights and whites are all raised and the tone curve lifts the midtones, while the black point is set slightly deeper so the photo doesn’t look washed out. Clarity and texture both rise a little for crisp detail.

A Cool Tint in the Shadows

The white balance cools a touch and a blue tint goes into the shadows, while yellows are muted, giving the frame a crisp, wintry feel. Blues lose some saturation, and oranges gain a touch of color and brightness.

Best on: dark or overcast winter portraits, cozy outerwear, and close-ups by a bright window.

Included – PHLEARN Soft ArcticOriginal

Soft Arctic

Soft Arctic keeps the snow bright but takes the glare out of it. The snowy pine trees behind her lean toward a cooler blue-green, her long hair turns a richer chestnut and her skin stays warm and natural. Exposure rises by a tenth of a stop, and contrast drops a little.

Highlights Pulled Way Down

Highlights are cut nearly all the way and the tone curve lowers the white point, so bright snow holds its texture. Shadows and blacks lift, while the curve deepens the darker tones for depth. Clarity rises slightly for a little extra definition.

The Coolest White Balance in the Pack

Temperature moves further toward cool here than in any other preset in the pack, and a faint yellow-green tint in the highlights adds to the icy feel. A faint golden tint goes into the shadows, and blues and aquas lose some saturation.

Best on: snowy portraits, holiday sessions, and photos with evergreen backdrops.

Lightroom Preset Questions, Answered

What’s included in the Winter Lightroom Presets?

The pack includes 10 presets: Absolute Zero, Below White, Frostbite, Ice Sheet, Bold Icy, Coated White, Soft Blizzard, Solstice White, Soft Arctic and Antarctica. They come as .XMP presets for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus .DNG versions for older versions of the mobile app.

What kind of photos are the Winter Lightroom Presets made for?

They are made for photos taken out in the snow and any winter scene. Gray skies and gloomy days can make winter tough to photograph, so these presets make snowy whites pop and add bright, clean whites, crisp cool colors and an icy style.

How do the Winter Lightroom Presets keep skin tones natural?

They add bright, cool tones to a snowy environment while protecting the reds in a subject’s skin, so skin stays warm and natural. Each preset targets the highlights, midtones and shadows to create a more natural result.

Are Lightroom Presets included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?

Which version of Lightroom do I need?

The .XMP presets work in Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer, in Lightroom on your computer and in Lightroom on your phone. For older versions of the mobile app, use the .DNG files in the download. We recommend the latest version.

How do I install Lightroom Presets?

In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click the + in the Presets panel, choose Import Presets and select the .XMP files. The PDF install guide in your download covers Lightroom on your computer and your phone too, and every method is on our Lightroom Presets install guide.

I imported the pack, but I can’t see it.

The new group arrives collapsed and sits in alphabetical order. Scroll the Presets panel, find the group named after the pack and click its arrow.

Do I have to install the presets on my phone separately?

Not if you import them into Lightroom on your computer: within a few minutes they show up in Lightroom on any device signed in to the same Adobe account. If you use Lightroom Classic, import the .XMP files in the mobile app: open a photo, tap Presets, then Yours, then the three-dot menu and Import Presets.

Do the presets work on RAW and JPEG photos?

Yes. Every preset is built to work on both RAW and JPEG files, and each one can be adjusted after you apply it.

The preset looks too strong. What do I do?

Lower the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel, then adjust White Balance and Exposure for that photo. Every photo starts from different light.

Do you offer refunds?

Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
