How to Install Your Presets
A short PDF that walks you through installing this pack in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus three tips for better results.
DESCRIPTION
Give your photos a soft, muted, and gentle feel with our Matte Lightroom Presets. Brighten images while adding soft fades and subtle color toning in just a few clicks.
Highlights come down with every preset and nearly all bring the whites down too, while most open the shadows, for lifestyle portraits, beach days and travel photos. After you apply one, raise Contrast a little if a flat-light photo looks too gray.
One zip holds the 10 presets as .xmp files, which work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on your computer and Lightroom on your phone, plus .dng versions for older releases of the mobile app, each in its own labeled folder, with 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Matte Lightroom Presets · 10 Looks
Lifted Shadows and Soft, Faded Color
Ten presets that lower contrast and soften highlights for a gentle, faded finish. They work in Lightroom Classic and in Lightroom on desktop and mobile.

Light Solstice
Light Solstice softens a crisp, sunny shot into a faded, film-like frame. The bright blue sky turns a dusty gray-blue, the white plane goes a soft gray and the green flight suit settles into a muted olive. Exposure does not change, and only a very slight vignette is added.
Highlights and Whites Brought Down
Highlights and whites are pulled down hard and contrast drops, while the shadows lift and the tone curve raises the darks. The brightest point stops just short of pure white. The blacks also lift slightly, adding to the faded finish.
Warm Tint, Quieter Blues
A warm tint goes into the shadows and highlights, and blues and greens lose some saturation, which takes the edge off a strong, saturated sky. Greens also shift toward yellow and get a little darker, and aquas lose some color.
Best on: outdoor fashion and vintage-style shoots, and photos with strong blue skies on a clear day.

Light Prestige
Light Prestige gives a bright beach shot a gentle, airy haze. The red outfit softens to coral, the sea fades to a pale blue-gray, and her skin stays rich and warm against the lighter background. The white balance does not change, and highlights come down by 31.
Lifted Blacks, Lower Whites
Blacks lift a lot and the tone curve raises them further, while whites are pulled down hard, so nothing in the frame is pure black or pure white. Contrast drops and shadows open up. The tone curve also pulls the brightest highlights down a little more.
Reds Toned Down
Reds are muted noticeably and an orange tint goes into the shadows, so loud colors like this outfit soften while deep skin keeps its warmth and glow. Blues and greens lose some saturation too, and a faint blue tint goes into the highlights.
Best on: beach and seaside portraits, bold-colored outfits, and sunny summer photos.

Deep Farrow
Deep Farrow darkens the frame for a deeper, moodier portrait. The black scarf and hair sink into rich shadow, the edges of the frame get darker and her skin turns a little deeper and warmer. Exposure does not change, and contrast barely moves.
Darker Shadows on the Curve
The tone curve pulls the dark tones down and flattens the deepest blacks into a matte floor, and whites come down a little. A dark vignette draws attention toward the face and away from the edges. Highlights ease down slightly as well, and the white balance stays where it is.
Richer, Deeper Skin
Oranges gain saturation and get darker, and reds shift slightly toward orange, while yellows and greens are muted, so skin looks warm and full against the dark clothing. Yellows shift toward orange, greens toward yellow, and blues get a little lighter.
Best on: close-up beauty portraits, dramatic headshots, and photos with dark clothing.

Crisp Adagio
Crisp Adagio flattens a sunny beach portrait into a calm, faded look. Her dark hair and the palm shadows lift into soft gray, the white shirt comes down a step and the sand turns a quieter, cooler tone. It is the only preset in the pack that changes exposure.
The Biggest Contrast Cut in the Pack
The Contrast slider is cut by 70, and highlights are pulled down hard while blacks and shadows lift and exposure brightens a little. A light vignette darkens the corners. Whites come down too, and the tone curve sets a matte floor under the blacks.
Skin Stays Warm
Reds and oranges are muted slightly and yellows and greens more, so her skin keeps a soft, natural warmth while the background goes quiet. Blues and aquas lose some saturation, and reds get a little lighter.
Best on: beach and resort portraits, white clothing, and relaxed lifestyle photos.

Soft Coventry
Soft Coventry lifts a backlit scene into a warm, hazy glow. The dark leaves and stems in the bouquet open up, the daisies stay detailed but gentle, and the sunlight around her looks softer and dreamier. The white balance does not change, so the warmth comes from the tint.
Low Contrast, Raised Darks
Contrast drops a lot and the blacks and shadows lift, with the tone curve raising the darks a bit more. Highlights and whites ease down so the bright sky keeps its glow without blowing out. The light tones rise a little, and a very slight vignette is added.
Warm Orange Tint
An orange tint goes into both the shadows and highlights, and greens are muted and nudged toward yellow, so foliage blends into the golden light. Yellows lose some saturation as well, and blues shift slightly toward purple.
Best on: backlit flowers and details, golden hour in a field, and boho-style portraits.

Mediterranean Teal
Mediterranean Teal calms a bright coastal scene. The turquoise water softens to a muted sea green, the white sand turns a quieter gray and the blue fringed jacket and hat settle into the same calm palette. Contrast drops by 19, and the white balance does not change.
Softer Aquas and Blues
Aquas and blues lose a good part of their saturation, and blues get lighter, which is what takes the water from bright turquoise to a gentle teal. Whites and highlights come down hard while blacks lift. The tone curve also sets a matte floor under the blacks, and clarity rises slightly.
Muted, Natural Skin
Oranges and yellows are toned down too, so skin and sand stay soft and neutral instead of glowing against the water. Reds get a little lighter, and aquas shift slightly toward green and darken.
Best on: beach and coastal photos, travel portraits, and scenes with strong teal or blue.

Lightroom Preset Questions, Answered
What’s included in the Matte Lightroom Presets?
The pack includes 10 presets: Balboa Mist, Chalk White, Crisp Adagio, Crisp Fieldstone, Deep Farrow, Light Prestige, Light Solstice, Mediterranean Teal, Silver Drop and Soft Coventry. They come as .XMP presets for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus .DNG versions for older versions of the mobile app, and the download includes sample images to practice on.
What kind of look do the Matte Lightroom Presets give?
They give photos a soft, muted and gentle feel. Matte styling lifts the shadows, lowers harsh contrast and adds muted colors for that classic faded look. The presets also brighten images and add subtle color toning, which gives them a timeless quality.
Which Matte Lightroom Presets are shown on this page?
The before and after examples show Crisp Adagio, Deep Farrow, Light Prestige, Light Solstice, Mediterranean Teal and Soft Coventry, with Soft Coventry as the featured look. The pack also includes Balboa Mist, Chalk White, Crisp Fieldstone and Silver Drop.
Are Lightroom Presets included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?
Yes. A PHLEARN PRO membership includes every Lightroom Preset pack, plus PRO Tutorials, LUTs, Photoshop Actions and Photoshop Brushes.
Which version of Lightroom do I need?
The .XMP presets work in Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer, in Lightroom on your computer and in Lightroom on your phone. For older versions of the mobile app, use the .DNG files in the download. We recommend the latest version.
How do I install Lightroom Presets?
In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click the + in the Presets panel, choose Import Presets and select the .XMP files. The PDF install guide in your download covers Lightroom on your computer and your phone too, and every method is on our Lightroom Presets install guide.
I imported the pack, but I can’t see it.
The new group arrives collapsed and sits in alphabetical order. Scroll the Presets panel, find the group named after the pack and click its arrow.
Do I have to install the presets on my phone separately?
Not if you import them into Lightroom on your computer: within a few minutes they show up in Lightroom on any device signed in to the same Adobe account. If you use Lightroom Classic, import the .XMP files in the mobile app: open a photo, tap Presets, then Yours, then the three-dot menu and Import Presets.
Do the presets work on RAW and JPEG photos?
Yes. Every preset is built to work on both RAW and JPEG files, and each one can be adjusted after you apply it.
The preset looks too strong. What do I do?
Lower the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel, then adjust White Balance and Exposure for that photo. Every photo starts from different light.
Do you offer refunds?
Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
