The Quick Start Guide to Photoshop

Photoshop is such an expansive and powerful program but all the power in the world means nothing if you don’t know how to use it. We created this 3 part Quick Start Guide to Photoshop to help you get to know the program before jumping in and making changes on your images. We cover the proper settings and preferences to get Photoshop working well – Part 1. We also show you the commonly used tools and features to give you a head start in Photoshop. We have found that learning a few tools will allow you to do 90% of your photo editing – Part 2. You will also learn how to properly save and export your images so they display perfectly on the web and allow for easy changes later – Part 3.

Getting Started in Photoshop

Photoshop is the industry standard when it comes to photo editing, largely in part to the powerful editing tools it has to offer. There are so many tools and features that using Photoshop can seem daunting to newer users.

We created this episode to highlight the essential tools and features of Photoshop. In time you will want to explore the program in greater depth but we have found that a handful of tools are powerful enough to do just about anything in Photoshop.

Spend some time becoming familiar with the tools and features outlined in this episode and you will be well on your way to using photoshop like a pro.

Best Tutorials I have seen on these topics. They don’t make you fall off in the first curve.

Around 8:50 you describe painting in and out, on the Layer Mask, with the brush. However, when I try to paint back in with the white brush, nothing happens. I’m on CC and yes I do have the layer-mask Layer selected. What else do I or don’t I have selected that is interfering with the process? Otherwise, I like the tone and pacing, although you do occasionally, and no doubt instinctively, do something with a shortcut key, without mentioning it. Thanks.

When trying to use the brushes the other day. I noticed that all that would show up is the cross hairs. No matter what I did I could not resize the brush. Then I noticed the caps lock was on. As soon as I turned it off my brush showed up.
