DESCRIPTION

Bring out the earthy tones, rich browns, and shimmering golds in your photos with our Brown Daze Lightroom Presets.

Every preset pulls bright highlights well down, most lift the blacks into a soft matte and warm the photo, and most quiet the yellows, greens and blues, so skies and foliage settle into the same earthy browns and golds. After you apply one, adjust Temperature to suit your light.

One zip holds the 10 presets as .xmp files, which work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on your computer and Lightroom on your phone, plus .dng versions for older releases of the mobile app, each in its own labeled folder, with 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Brown Daze Lightroom Presets · 10 Looks

Earthy Browns and Golden Desert Tones

Ten presets that deepen browns, golds and reds while holding bright skies and highlights. They work in Lightroom Classic and in Lightroom on desktop and mobile.

Crisp Russet

Crisp Russet turns the yellow-orange desert sand into a dusty, pinkish russet and quiets the blue sky, so the clouds read softer. Her dark skirt and coat stay crisp against the lighter ground. White balance barely moves.

Oranges Lean Red and Lighten

Oranges shift toward red and lose some saturation, yellows lose some too, and both get brighter. Blues lose about half their color, which is why the sky turns pale. Reds lean toward orange and lose about a third of their saturation.

Held Highlights, Film Texture

Highlights come down hard and a tone curve dips the shadows for contrast. Blacks rise by 43 at the same time, so the deepest tones keep detail. A light orange tint in the shadows, a soft vignette and a touch of grain finish the look.

Best on: desert and dry landscapes, travel portraits in open sun, and wide shots with lots of sand or stone.

Included – PHLEARN Vintage BrownOriginal

Vintage Brown

Vintage Brown softens this hillside scene and pushes the dry grass and shrubs toward deeper, warmer browns for a slightly aged feel. The white shirt and cream coat settle into a soft tan. The white balance moves only slightly warmer.

Low Contrast, Darker Blacks

Contrast drops a lot, highlights come down hard and whites drop too, while blacks go a little darker and shadows open. The scene softens while the darkest areas keep some weight. A gentle S-shaped point curve adds back a little shape in the midtones.

Yellows and Greens Turn Brown

Yellows shift toward orange and greens toward yellow, and both get darker, so green and golden plants turn earthy brown. A faint blue tint sits in the shadows and a yellow one in the highlights. A very light vignette frames the scene, and there is no grain.

Best on: couples sessions in fields, autumn and late-summer landscapes, and earthy outfits.

Soft Redwood

Soft Redwood deepens the warm tones in this old doorway. The wooden doors and plaster walls go a richer red-brown, and the couple’s skin picks up a sunny glow while the bright archway calms down. The tone curve is left untouched.

A Red Tint in the Highlights

A small warm white balance shift plus a red tint in the highlights gives walls and skin their redwood color. Oranges gain a little saturation. Yellows shift toward orange and greens toward yellow, which keeps any plants and painted surfaces in the same warm family.

Bright Whites, Softer Highlights

Highlights are pulled down hard but whites are pushed up, so bright areas keep detail and still look clean. Contrast eases a little and a light vignette frames the couple. Shadows and blacks barely change, and no grain is added.

Best on: travel photos in old towns, wood and terracotta architecture, and warm afternoon light.

Included – PHLEARN Soft ClayOriginal

Soft Clay

Soft Clay gives this hiking group an earthy, muted finish. The denim overalls and shorts lose much of their blue and turn a soft gray-blue, and the sky goes pale while sunlit skin keeps a warm tan. White balance does not change, so the warmth comes from the color mix alone.

Blues Pulled Way Down

Blues lose about two-thirds of their saturation and get brighter, which quiets bright denim and sky. Yellows and greens are muted too, and greens get darker. Reds shift strongly toward orange, so red gear and lips blend into the same earthy palette.

Clay-Red Skin and Shadows

Oranges shift strongly toward red and get a little darker, and a red tint goes into the shadows. A tone curve deepens the darks and whites come down, so nothing glares. Contrast rises, highlights drop by 50 and blacks lift by 26.

Best on: outdoor group shots, hiking and travel photos, and denim with sunlit skin.

Included – PHLEARN Muted MochaOriginal

Muted Mocha

Muted Mocha warms this hillside portrait and gives it a gentle haze. The striped sweater and dark jeans sit softly in the frame, and the hills and grass behind her pick up a mocha-brown tone. Contrast rises only slightly, so the haze stays soft rather than flat.

A Faint Matte Lift

The tone curve raises the black point slightly, and highlights come down hard while shadows open, so dark clothing keeps some detail and the bright sky stays calm. Whites lift a little to keep the brightest areas clean, and a light vignette darkens the edges.

Warm, Quieter Color

The white balance moves warmer, yellows shift toward orange, and reds, oranges and yellows lose some saturation. Blues lose about a third of their color, which softens the sky. Blues, oranges and yellows also get lighter.

Best on: moody outdoor portraits, late-day light, and black-and-white clothing you want to look softer.

Included – PHLEARN Matte CarobOriginal

Matte Carob

Matte Carob gives this field portrait a faded, film-like finish. The wheat-colored grass turns a soft carob brown, the sky goes paler, and the white shirt stays clean against her skin. Contrast rises a little, which keeps the faded tones from looking washed out.

A Raised Black Point

The tone curve lifts the black point and the Blacks slider rises too, so the darkest parts of her hair and the trees turn a soft, matte charcoal. Highlights come down hard and shadows open. Whites ease down slightly and the tone curve darkens the lights, so bright areas stay calm.

Oranges Lean Toward Red

Oranges shift toward red, reds and oranges lose a little saturation, and the white balance moves slightly warmer. A faint blue tint in the shadows adds a cool note to the matte tones. A light vignette frames her.

Best on: field and meadow portraits, golden grasses, and natural-light photos with a film feel.

Lightroom Preset Questions, Answered

What’s included in the Brown Daze Lightroom Presets?

The pack includes 10 presets: Crisp Russet, Light Mustard, Matte Carob, Muted Mocha, New Sienna, New Umber, Soft Clay, Soft Redwood, Vintage Brown and Warm Sepia. They come as .XMP presets for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus .DNG versions for older versions of the mobile app. Sample images are included too.

What kind of photos are the Brown Daze Lightroom Presets made for?

They’re made for photos with earthy tones, rich browns and golds, the colors found all through nature, from rich soil to desert sands. The presets enhance the richness of warm tones while brightening the image and adding contrast, and they work on both RAW and JPEG photos.

Which Brown Daze presets are shown on this page?

The before-and-after examples show seven of the ten: New Umber, which is the featured look, plus Crisp Russet, Matte Carob, Muted Mocha, Soft Clay, Soft Redwood and Vintage Brown. Light Mustard, New Sienna and Warm Sepia are in the download too, so try them on the included sample images.

Are Lightroom Presets included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?

Which version of Lightroom do I need?

The .XMP presets work in Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer, in Lightroom on your computer and in Lightroom on your phone. For older versions of the mobile app, use the .DNG files in the download. We recommend the latest version.

How do I install Lightroom Presets?

In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click the + in the Presets panel, choose Import Presets and select the .XMP files. The PDF install guide in your download covers Lightroom on your computer and your phone too, and every method is on our Lightroom Presets install guide.

I imported the pack, but I can’t see it.

The new group arrives collapsed and sits in alphabetical order. Scroll the Presets panel, find the group named after the pack and click its arrow.

Do I have to install the presets on my phone separately?

Not if you import them into Lightroom on your computer: within a few minutes they show up in Lightroom on any device signed in to the same Adobe account. If you use Lightroom Classic, import the .XMP files in the mobile app: open a photo, tap Presets, then Yours, then the three-dot menu and Import Presets.

Do the presets work on RAW and JPEG photos?

Yes. Every preset is built to work on both RAW and JPEG files, and each one can be adjusted after you apply it.

The preset looks too strong. What do I do?

Lower the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel, then adjust White Balance and Exposure for that photo. Every photo starts from different light.

Do you offer refunds?

Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
