DESCRIPTION

It’s summertime in the city! Whether it’s a noontime brunch with friends or exploring your city’s streets, these Presets are designed to help bring all of your summer adventures and excursions to life. Brighten your images and add warm, sun-soaked tones in an instant.

Highlights come down and shadows open up with every preset, and most lower Dehaze for a soft summer haze, so they suit fairground days, rooftop portraits and sunny sidewalks. After you apply one, lower Temperature a little if white clothes turn too yellow.

One zip holds the 10 presets as .xmp files, which work in Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on your computer and Lightroom on your phone, plus .dng versions for older releases of the mobile app, each in its own labeled folder, with 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Urban Summer Lightroom Presets · 10 Looks

Sunny Warm Tones for City Streets

Ten presets that open shadows, warm skin and add golden toning to city and travel photos. They work in Lightroom Classic and in Lightroom on desktop and mobile.

Included – PHLEARN Calypso BluesOriginal

Calypso Blues

Calypso Blues softens this fairground shot and adds a warm, sunny tone, while his shirt and her jeans stay a soft blue. The Ferris wheel and bright sky behind them settle into a creamy white. White balance does not change, so the warmth comes from the toning.

Yellow Toning, Lower Contrast

A yellow tint goes into both the shadows and the highlights, and Contrast, Whites and Clarity come down while Shadows and Blacks lift. A light grain, the only one in the pack, adds texture, and a negative Dehaze softens the frame further.

Blues Kept, Greens Removed

Blues gain saturation and get brighter, so denim holds its color against the warmth. Greens lose about 60% of their saturation, and oranges get brighter for glowing skin. Blues also shift toward purple, and yellows lose some saturation but get brighter.

Best on: couples and friends out in the city, fairground and street photos, and outfits in light blue denim.

Included – PHLEARN True ChiffonOriginal

True Chiffon

True Chiffon turns the vivid teal dress into a pale, airy blue and lifts the shadows, so the whole scene looks lighter. The stone wall picks up a little warmth against the soft blue sky. Shadows rise by 31 and Highlights come down by 21.

Aqua Shifted Toward Blue

Aquas are pushed strongly toward blue, lose a quarter of their saturation and get much brighter, which is what turns the teal dress powder blue. Blues gain saturation. They also shift slightly toward aqua and get lighter.

Warm Stone, Quieter Greens

Oranges gain saturation and an orange tint goes into the shadows, warming stone and skin. Yellows and greens lose about 60% of their color, and Contrast drops for a softer finish. A yellow tint sits in the highlights, and Clarity rises by 14, the most in the pack.

Best on: travel photos at landmarks, flowing summer dresses, and scenes with strong teal or turquoise.

Included – PHLEARN Soft CocoaOriginal

Soft Cocoa

Soft Cocoa warms skin and hair and gives the white siding and dress a creamy tint instead of a cold white. The light denim jacket keeps its blue and looks a little richer. Overall Saturation rises by 10, and white balance does not change.

Lifted Blacks, Lower Whites

Blacks and Shadows go up while Whites and Highlights come down, so the bright wall holds detail. Contrast rises to keep the image from going flat. A faint blue tint also goes into the shadows, balancing the yellow in the highlights.

Glowing Oranges, Deeper Blues

Oranges gain saturation and get much brighter, which gives skin its warm glow, and a yellow tint goes into the highlights. Blues get richer and darker, and greens lose over half their color. Aquas shift strongly toward blue, and greens shift toward yellow.

Best on: fashion against white walls, sunny street portraits, and outfits in white and pale denim.

Woman in a coral dress with a matching bag leaning against a stone wall, after the Light Marigold preset is applied
Included – PHLEARN Light MarigoldOriginal

Light Marigold

Light Marigold pushes the warm colors further. The coral dress and bag get richer, her skin turns a golden tan, and the orange buildings behind her glow in the late light. The white balance does not change, so the warmth comes from toning and color.

Orange and Yellow Toning

An orange tint goes into the shadows and a yellow one into the highlights, and reds and oranges gain saturation. That is where the marigold warmth in the walls, skin and coral dress comes from. Oranges also get brighter, and Vibrance rises by 5.

Lifted Darks, Held Whites

Shadows and Blacks lift while Highlights and Whites come down, and Contrast rises a little so the frame still has depth. Greens lose over half their color. Blues get darker and a little more saturated, and a small negative Dehaze adds a light haze.

Best on: golden-hour portraits, Mediterranean streets and old buildings, and outfits in coral, orange and red.

Woman in a straw hat and blue dress standing by a harbor, after the Warm Buttermilk preset is applied
Included – PHLEARN Warm ButtermilkOriginal

Warm Buttermilk

Warm Buttermilk softens this bright harbor portrait and warms her skin, while the striped dress turns a calmer, slightly lavender blue. Bright whites in the sky and boats are toned down. Vibrance rises by 17, and white balance is left unchanged.

Whites Pulled Way Down

Whites drop a lot and Highlights come down too, while Shadows and Blacks lift and Contrast eases. Strong midday light on the water and her dress looks softer and more even. A small positive Dehaze, one of only two in the pack, keeps the scene from turning hazy.

Warm Skin, Darker Blues

Oranges gain saturation and get brighter, so skin glows, while blues get much darker and a faint purple tint goes into the highlights. Greens lose about two-thirds of their color. Blues also shift slightly toward purple, and reds shift strongly toward orange.

Best on: waterfront and harbor photos, bright midday portraits, and pale blue or striped summer clothes.

Included – PHLEARN Warm OchreOriginal

Warm Ochre

Warm Ochre adds warmth across the frame, turning the white lace dress and the party decorations a soft cream and giving the wood, straw and fabrics an ochre tint. Overall brightness changes little. Exposure and Contrast are both left unchanged, and white balance barely moves.

Yellow Toning Throughout

A yellow tint goes into both the shadows and the highlights, and yellows shift toward orange, gain saturation and get darker. That is what gives whites their cream color. Oranges gain saturation and get a little brighter as well, and aquas shift strongly toward blue.

A Soft Haze and Open Shadows

Shadows lift and Highlights come down, and a negative Dehaze adds a light haze. Blacks drop slightly, so the dark hat still holds its depth. Greens lose some saturation and get darker, and Clarity rises by 5.

Best on: boho styling and festival looks, outdoor parties and brunches, and white lace or linen outfits.

Lightroom Preset Questions, Answered

What’s included in the Urban Summer Lightroom Presets?

The Urban Summer Lightroom Presets include 10 presets: Warm Ochre, Light Marigold, Soft Oranges, Warm Buttermilk, Calypso Blues, Soft Cocoa, True Chiffon, Spice Pinks, Crisp Lemonade and Moon Cream. They come as .XMP presets for Lightroom Classic, Lightroom desktop and Lightroom on your phone, plus .DNG versions for older versions of the mobile app.

What kind of photos are the Urban Summer Lightroom Presets made for?

Summer photos in the city, from a noontime brunch with friends to exploring your city’s streets. The presets brighten your images, lift shadows and add rich, warm, sun-soaked tones, which makes them a good fit for outdoor summer photos with a city background. They work on both RAW and JPEG photos.

How do the Urban Summer Lightroom Presets treat skin tones?

They are designed to help skin tones look great in front of a sun-kissed city background. The same warmth and sunny brightness the presets add to the scene carry through to the people in it, which makes them useful for portraits and photos of friends out in the city.

Are Lightroom Presets included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?

Which version of Lightroom do I need?

The .XMP presets work in Lightroom Classic 7.3 and newer, in Lightroom on your computer and in Lightroom on your phone. For older versions of the mobile app, use the .DNG files in the download. We recommend the latest version.

How do I install Lightroom Presets?

In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click the + in the Presets panel, choose Import Presets and select the .XMP files. The PDF install guide in your download covers Lightroom on your computer and your phone too, and every method is on our Lightroom Presets install guide.

I imported the pack, but I can’t see it.

The new group arrives collapsed and sits in alphabetical order. Scroll the Presets panel, find the group named after the pack and click its arrow.

Do I have to install the presets on my phone separately?

Not if you import them into Lightroom on your computer: within a few minutes they show up in Lightroom on any device signed in to the same Adobe account. If you use Lightroom Classic, import the .XMP files in the mobile app: open a photo, tap Presets, then Yours, then the three-dot menu and Import Presets.

Do the presets work on RAW and JPEG photos?

Yes. Every preset is built to work on both RAW and JPEG files, and each one can be adjusted after you apply it.

The preset looks too strong. What do I do?

Lower the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel, then adjust White Balance and Exposure for that photo. Every photo starts from different light.

Do you offer refunds?

Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
