DESCRIPTION

Add subtle contrast and rich, creamy tones to your food photos and videos!

Most add saturation to reds and yellows and warm the image slightly: Sweet Mocha brightens the midtones and makes reds and yellows much richer, Deep Rouge deepens reds and warms the whites, and Caramel Brown lifts the blacks a touch. After you apply one, lower the layer opacity in Photoshop or the LUT intensity in your video app if the look is too strong.

One zip holds the 5 LUTs as .CUBE files for Photoshop’s Color Lookup, the same 5 in .3DL, .CSP, .CUBE and .ICC for video and other apps, plus 4 sample images to practice on and the PDF install guide.

Moody Food LUTs · 5 Looks

Rich, Warm Color for Dark Food Scenes

Five LUTs that deepen color and warm up chocolate, coffee, syrup and bread for moody food shots. Use them on photos and video in Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve.

Included – PHLEARN Gold MistOriginal

Gold Mist

Gold Mist adds a light golden warmth to this chocolate and spice scene. The chocolate looks a little richer, the cinnamon sticks and cocoa powder glow warmer, and the dark background stays soft. Overall brightness barely changes, with middle gray moving from 50 to 52 percent.

Warmth From Shadows to Highlights

A light warm tint runs through the shadows, midtones and light tones, so even middle gray picks up a little warmth. Shadows dip slightly and light tones rise slightly for a contrast boost of about a tenth, while black stays at 0 and white eases to 99 percent.

Warm Colors Up, Blues Down

Oranges and yellows gain about 12 to 17 percent saturation while blues lose about a fifth, so cool props and backgrounds step back. Greens keep their color but get darker, and aquas lean toward green.

Best on: chocolate, baking and spice shots, dark wooden tables, and dessert close-ups.

Included – PHLEARN Sweet MochaOriginal

Sweet Mocha

Sweet Mocha brightens the coffee into a glowing amber and makes the swirl of milk stand out more clearly against it. The white cup stays clean, and the dark rim of the coffee keeps its depth. It is the brightest and most colorful LUT in this pack.

Brighter Midtones

Middle gray rises from 50 to 59 percent and the light tones to 82 percent, while black and white barely move, so the coffee lightens and shows more of its color without losing the dark edge. Contrast rises by about a tenth.

Much Richer Color

Oranges gain about 40 percent more saturation, yellows about a third, reds about a quarter and greens about a fifth, which turns brown liquids into warm amber and caramel tones. Light skin tones get brighter and warmer too, and deeper skin gains a lot of color.

Best on: coffee, tea and pouring shots, close-ups of drinks, and cafe scenes.

Included – PHLEARN Deep RougeOriginal

Deep Rouge

Deep Rouge darkens the scene and saturates the warm colors, so the stack of pancakes glows against the dark plate. The caramel turns a richer amber, and the pink linen behind takes on a deeper rose. It pulls the highlights down further than any other LUT in this pack.

Darker Tones, Softer Whites

Every tone from the shadows to the highlights gets darker, with middle gray dropping from 50 to 45 percent, and the brightest whites stop at about 94 percent with a slight warm tint. That gives a heavier, moodier frame with no harsh white.

Warm Colors Pushed Hard

Reds and oranges gain about a fifth more saturation and darken a little, with reds leaning toward orange, while yellows gain a little and blues barely change. Greens get noticeably darker. The blueberries stay dark as the syrup and pancakes get warmer.

Best on: breakfast and dessert stacks, syrups and sauces, and dark plates and tables.

Included – PHLEARN Caramel BrownOriginal

Caramel Brown

Caramel Brown pulls the cool slate background toward a warmer, darker brown. The toast and walnuts turn golden, the honey glows a deeper amber, and the grapes stay dark and glossy. Of the five looks in this pack, it lifts the black point the most.

Darker Midtones, Soft Blacks

Middle gray drops from 50 to 45 percent and the darker tones get an orange tint, while pure black lifts slightly to a soft charcoal at about 5 percent. Contrast deepens in the midtones without crushing the shadows, and the highlights stay neutral.

Warm Colors Richer

Reds and oranges gain about a fifth more saturation and yellows about a tenth, while greens, aquas and purples barely change, and every color gets a little darker. Skin turns warmer and slightly darker, with deeper skin gaining the most color.

Best on: overhead cheese and snack boards, breads and honey, and dark stone or slate surfaces.

Included – PHLEARN Caramel BrownOriginal

Caramel Brown

On a bright breakfast scene Caramel Brown works more quietly. The slate and the gray bowls go darker and richer, the almonds turn a deeper orange-brown, and the yogurt stays a clean white. A light orange tint sits in the shadows and midtones, while the highlights stay neutral.

Whites Stay Clean

The brightest tones barely move, with pure white holding at about 99 percent, so yogurt, milk and cream keep their brightness while the tones around them settle darker and the dark grapes look deeper. Middle gray drops from 50 to 45 percent, and black lifts to about 5 percent.

Warm Toppings Stand Out

Reds and oranges gain about a fifth more color and yellows about a tenth, which makes nuts, oats, honey and dried fruit stand out against a dark stone surface. Cool colors barely change.

Best on: breakfast bowls, dairy and white foods, and overhead flat lays on dark stone.

LUT Questions, Answered

What’s included in the Moody Food LUTs?

The pack includes 5 LUTs: Caramel Brown, Deep Brulee, Deep Rouge, Gold Mist and Sweet Mocha. Each LUT comes as .CUBE, .3DL, .CSP and .ICC files, so it works in Photoshop, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and most other editors.

What kind of photos are the Moody Food LUTs made for?

They are made for food photos and videos. The LUTs add subtle contrast and rich, creamy, warm tones, along with a bit of texture, to help food look more appetizing on screen. The featured look on the page is Deep Rouge.

Can I use the Moody Food LUTs on food videos?

Yes. The Moody Food LUTs are listed for photo and video, so you can give food clips and food stills the same warm, rich look. A LUT works like a color grading preset, replacing each color pixel by pixel, and it works in video editors such as Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve.

Are LUTs included in my PHLEARN PRO subscription?

Which programs do the LUTs work in?

Photoshop, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Lightroom Classic and most other photo and video editors. Use the .CUBE file unless your software asks for .3DL, .CSP or .ICC.

How do I use a LUT in Photoshop?

Choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Lookup, open the 3DLUT File menu in the Properties panel, choose Load 3D LUT and pick a .CUBE file from the Photoshop Quick Install folder. Set the strength with the layer’s Opacity.

How do I install LUTs in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro?

The PDF install guide in your download has a page for each one, and every step for every program is on our How to Install LUTs page.

The LUT looks too strong. What do I do?

Turn it down: lower the layer Opacity in Photoshop, the Intensity slider in Premiere Pro or the Mix slider in Final Cut Pro. In DaVinci Resolve, reduce Key Output Gain for that node.

Should I correct my photo before adding a LUT?

Yes. Set exposure and white balance first, then add the LUT on top. A LUT grades color; it does not correct it.

My LUTs don’t show up in DaVinci Resolve.

Skipping Update Lists is the usual reason. Open Project Settings > Color Management, click Update Lists, then Save.

Do you offer refunds?

Because these are downloadable products, all sales are final and we are not able to offer refunds.
