description
This free Photoshop snowflake brush arrives with spacing, size jitter, angle jitter and scattering already dialled in, so one click-and-drag lays down a flurry of randomly sized, randomly rotated snowflakes instead of the same shape stamped over and over. Load it through the Brush panel and it sits in your picker like any other preset — ready for holiday cards, seasonal graphics, or a wintery composite with no extra setup.

Free Photoshop Snowflake Brush
This free snowflake brush comes pre-loaded with scattering, size variation, and rotation built in, so a single stroke lays down a natural-looking flurry of snowflakes instead of one repeated, identical shape. It’s ready to drop into holiday cards, website graphics, seasonal illustrations, or any winter-themed image without any additional setup, and it works equally well as a subtle background accent or as the main focal effect in a wintery composite.
What’s Included in This Download
The brush is built from a single clean snowflake shape, but its Photoshop brush settings — spacing, size jitter, angle jitter, and scattering — do the heavy lifting, spreading dozens of randomly sized and rotated snowflakes across the canvas with one click-and-drag.
How to Load the Brush in Photoshop
Once downloaded, add the brush to Photoshop through the Brush panel’s import option, or by double-clicking the brush file with Photoshop open. From there it appears in your brush picker alongside your other presets, ready to select any time you need it — there’s no additional installation software required beyond Photoshop itself.
-
Import the Brush File
Open the Brush panel (Window > Brush), click the panel menu in the top-right corner, and choose Import Brushes to load the downloaded file. If you run into any trouble, phlearn.com’s install guide. covers the process for both Windows and Mac in more detail.
-
Select It and Adjust Size to Taste
Select the brush from your picker, and use the bracket keys ([ and ]) to size it up or down depending on whether you want your snowflakes to read as close to the camera or far away.
Tips for Getting a Natural Result
For the most convincing effect, paint on more than one layer at different brush sizes — a layer of small, distant snowflakes, a layer of medium ones, and a layer of larger snowflakes meant to sit closest to the camera. Because the brush’s built-in randomness already varies size, angle, and opacity within each stroke, you don’t need to click individually for each snowflake; painting loosely across an area is enough to build a convincing flurry. Lowering the layer’s opacity slightly can also help a background layer of snowflakes recede further, adding another sense of distance without changing the brush settings themselves.
