How to Make a Vintage Photo in Photoshop

Sep 24

Adding Style

Congrats to Chris Neel for winning this week’s contest! This is his image and we are happy to edit it.

When working on post-production you have many choices as far as the direction you want to take an image. Will you make it black and white? Will you add contrast? Will you make your subject pop from the screen? Half of making a good edit is taking the image in the appropriate direction.

For this image, I felt it would benefit from a light, summer vintage feel because of the subject matter. We add a light flare and some extra blur to enhance the overall feel of the image.

How to Win
The person who best exemplifies the contest theme will be the winner. If two entries are close, the amount of likes, comments, and a great description will be the deciding factor. Winners are chosen by the Phlearn team.

Random Tips

Want to see the exact size of the brush when you are painting painting in PS. This is not turned on by default. To change this, go to “Edit” >> “Preferences” >> “Display and Cursors”. Set the settings for the cursors to Brush Size.
