I absolutely love how Aaron is laid back and fun in his video tutorials, it just makes you feel like you're hanging out with a friend, who's teaching you some cool stuff - it's easy to comprehend, it's not tiring and every video is jam packed with golden nuggets of priceless information. The entire website is full of brilliant educational materials.
I wish Phlearn was created 5 years ago, it would have saved me a lot of time learning Photoshop!
Great job! The entire Phlearn team, you guys are amazing! Keep up the great work!
Thank you Aaron for your work!
I saw Aaron's work a while back on Flickr and was amazed by his level of creativity, the quality of his editing and of course his amazing photography in the first place. And this is where PHLEARN came into play for me. The first time I came across PHLEARN, I thought "Finally! Someone is providing and teaching the tools for those who want to express the images in their heads but didn't have the know how".
Just through the Free Episodes alone you can tremendously improve your skills and start to build images like never before, so just imagine what is possible with the PRO Tutorials. On top of all that, PHLEARN doesn't even ask for a lot of money for what they provide, which makes it the first honest and fair deal on the net with a serious return on investment.
Go through 3 Free Episodes and I promise you, you will be hooked on the entire PHLEARN package!
I have been using photoshop for 8 years now and ever since I took Aaron's class and watched some of the Pro tutorials, I have become significantly more fluent in photoshop. It's funny because when I feel I understand how most conceptual images are put together and edited, Aaron comes out with a new technique that changes my whole perspective.
I watch a number of the free episodes and was able to handle the pre shoot, shoot, and composite, then purchased the Skin Retouching Tutorial to handle the rest. I can now proudly say my work is displayed in over 600 stores! All thanks to Phlearn. Great instructions and a great community! Go Phlearn!!!
Today I got my 1st Phlearn Pro, the Film Noir. Can wait to watch it...
You rock Phlearn!
The Phamily are some of the most nicest, and sincerest bunch of photographers and teachers you will ever have the pleasure of talking to. There's also no comparing the Phlearn Pro tutorials to anything else on the web. I myself have purchased a few and they are without a shed of doubt, the most influential and in depth learning videos I've ever seen, and the dichotomy of each video lends a hand to all styles and formats. I for one am happy to be part of the Phlearn Phamily and will continue to visit the site as long as it's longevity stands.
The future of Phlearn is fueled by us and the team and I am so blessed for all the help they've given me personally and for the pro tutorials that I'll never stop watching. I stand on the shoulders of giants, and it's been an ongoing learning journey that Im proud to be a part of.
I was a bit let down when Phlearn decided to expand its content to miscellaneous rehashed articles found around the web and on a thousand other websites/blogs. It was no longer unique and no longer comprised of just original content. Your later decision to remove all that content from the website brought new hope that not all focused incredibly talented startups have to become run of the mill, a dime a dozen websites.
Phlearn Pros are also a great concept. I totally respect the business model and have purchased a few myself. The level of detail that can be found in these tutorials is nothing short of amazing. It's like discovering photoshop anew every time.
Something I would really love to see is one or multiple Phlearn Pro episodes where you use 3d modelling software either to create a concept or better still, to actually create assets for the final image. I have never tried using these kind of programs and having a photographer's introduction to these applications might make more sense to us than delving into video tutorials found on the net which are more targeted to hardcore 3d artists.
Thank you for all that you have done.
